The intention was to treat the design of the gate as a landmark and a signifier with specific identity, which will result to an attractive place for social interaction.

The design was driven by the search for maximum clarity, with immediately understandable symbols. A light structure reduces the pictorial outline of the tree to its simplest form, whilst expressing an elegant and effortless sensibility to the surroundings. Visually it was considered important to keep the overall look and feel quite neutral and simple but also joyful.

The end result is a combination of scale, detail, and refinement that treats the gate structures with a three-dimensional aspect. Surfaces merge together creating a fluid object with a liminal space that draws the outer surface inside and vice versa. The steel structure supports a canopy formalized by a network of hanging ribbons, referring to the movement of the tree leaves.
